All World Cup-on-Sea profits will be split between two amazing local charities, HARP and Trust Links
HARP help over 1,000 people every year who are either homeless or at risk of homelessness in Southend-on-Sea. We provide short and long-term accommodation, access to confidence boosting training and activities, and crucial support to help local people overcome homelessness for good.
Trust Links is the local mental health and wellbeing charity working in South East Essex to support people experiencing mental health problems, learning disabilities, young people and unpaid carers. We are committed to building stronger communities and promoting sustainable living.
World Cup-on-Sea is a 32 team, 7-a-side football tournament being played on Southend United's home pitch at the iconic Roots Hall Stadium on Saturday 16th May 2020
The tournament is open to businesses local to Southend-on-Sea who are able to field an all male team of between nine and 13 players
The entry fee per team is £500. Each team is guaranteed a minimum of three matches, and a maximum of seven matches, depending on their performance in the tournament
Businesses are encouraged to fundraise and gain sponsorship to help the event raise as much money as possible for both causes
In the group stages, there will be eight groups of four teams. The teams in each of the eight groups will play each other once. Three points will be awarded for a win, draws will be awarded a point each, and there will be no points for a loss
The top two teams from each group will go through to the knockout stages, where there will be five further rounds: the last 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, third place play-off, and the final
The winners of the final will be the World Cup-on-Sea 2020 Champions!
